Retreat Details

The morning sessions will start with breath work (pranayama) and observing silence with guided meditation. From there we’ll start to explore the yoga poses (asanas) and over the week the classes will increase in level of endurance through building awareness with core strength and flexibility. It is inspiring and energizing to work in a group however each person will be guided to work at a pace that supports their own needs.

The afternoon classes will be part discussion and exploration of specific areas of yoga. It will be more remedial work focusing of replenishing energy.

Morning class is up to 3 hours and afternoon practice is up to 2 hours. Bring a towel to all classes.

The style of yoga is based in the Vinyasa Hatha discipline that birthed Iyengar,  and Ashtanga yoga. Expansive. Nurturing. Surprising. Not just a basic yoga class, this is about INSPIRATION to cultivating deep peace through active meditation.

Instructor Details

Adriana Cortazzo has been practicing yoga for nearly 30 years and has trained as a teacher in the tradition of Iyengar yoga, Ashtanga yoga and in a system known as Yoga Synergy by Simon Borg Olivier. She was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease which rendered her unable to continue to have any more children. Adriana was so fierce about her discipline of yoga and her belief in holistic therapy that after a three year very strict regime of daily yoga and dietary elimination she not only broke through her ‘mud’ to a life of spectacular well-being, but her ‘lotus’ grew two more children.

Adriana’s yoga practice can be best described as understanding and going with the ‘flow’. “Each and everyone of us is moving. How fast, how slow, to what rhythm, is the story we tell… I believe we’re all wanting to find a ‘flow’ that supports our journey of unending bliss.” Adriana has spent nearly two years working with women in a high security prison. “My practice is about feeling the flow of life, ‘prana’ (life force). When you tap into it, every cell of your being is beautifully pulsating, humming sweet tunes of perfect peace”.

Daily Programme

The programme will offer two workshops every day. In between, there will be time to relax by the pool, go into Savusavu town  and enjoy some local excursions. As part of the week’s retreat there’s a free half hour massage, a trip to the beach and the blue lagoon at Devodara, an outing to a nearby village and a performance of a meke (traditional Fijian dance), a tapa making demonstration (the decorated Fijian bark cloth used in ceremonial occasions).
